LANCASTER, Pa. – Three goals in a span of five minutes to open the second half put the finishing touches on a dominant 6-1 victory for the No. 6 Franklin & Marshall field hockey team against Johns Hopkins on Wednesday evening in Centennial Conference (CC) play.

The Diplomats improved to 10-1, 4-1 CC with the win, while the Blue Jays slid to 5-6, 2-2 CC.

F&M came out firing to start the game, placing its first point on the board in the 10th minute when Sydney Cole collected the loose ball inside the circle and scored on the left side of the cage for the 1-0 lead.

Tamara Mills followed with a breakaway goal just over a minute later, before Cole notched her second of the half in the 15th minute to send the Diplomats into halftime up 3-0. F&M led in shots at 14-1 through the opening 35 minutes of the contest.

In the second, the Diplomats came out of the break with a barrage of scoring that kicked off with a Maria Guarisco backhand shot at the top of the circle in the 36th minute, followed by the junior midfielder's second consecutive goal just a minute later, for the 5-0 advantage.

Lauren Eastman wrapped up the scoring in the 39th minute, taking a long feed from Cole on the right side of the field and finding the back of the cage for her sixth tally of the season. Johns Hopkins finally got on the board in the 52nd minute en route to the 6-1 final.

Allie Morey (10-1) earned the victory in cage, stopping two shots through 70 minutes, while the Blue Jays' Zoey Atabek (2-3) was dealt the loss despite 12 shots on the evening.
